Benefice News

After our busy Easter, we now find ourselves rolling into the spring still wondering when the River Lavant will calm down. Please pray particularly for Kieron and Abbie as they prepare for their wedding on Saturday at St Hubert’s with some extraordinary measures to make sure their guests make it through the mud and up the hill to St Hubert’s. You will also have noticed that lots of banns are being read at the moment and we pray for Richard and Alys, Will and Lizzy, and Nicola and Ken as they prepare for their weddings in May and June.

Users of the Church Centre will have appreciated the newly resurfaced car park many thanks to Gill and Geoff Hill for organising that.

We welcomed Marnie and Kenny into the family of Christ last Sunday at Holy Trinity and this week it’s Winter’s turn, with her Grandad, Trevor Reader, taking the service. I am sure that there will be lots of us who will be pleased to welcome the Reader family back to the benefice.

Finally, we have included an advertisement for a new Anna Chaplain to join our team so that we can expand our very important ministry to the elderly. Please could you bring this to the attention of anyone you think might be interested. You do not have to be licensed clergy or lay ministers to be an Anna Chaplain.

Hopefully I will see lots of you in the coming week.

With a wealth of history to explore, and many unique and beautiful features we are well worth a visit.

Anna Chaplaincy

BCI Churches and the United Benefice of Catherington and Clanfield are looking for an Anna Chaplain who could come alongside ourAnna Chaplain, Dawn, to accompany older people at this age and stage of their lives. It is an ecumenical, community-based, chaplaincy promoting the spiritual welfare of older people. Anna Chaplaincy is a person-centred and non-judgemental ministry for people of strong, little or no faith at all. We have expanded our ministry to 4 nursing and care homes and one sheltered housing complex. We are in need of someone willing to train as a Chaplain with the Diocese and to be able to work with our team of ‘Anna Friends’ to bring this ministry to our older residents. You would need to be able to give one to two days a month at minimum. Please talk to either Revd Richard or Revd Joy in the first instance.

There is training in the Diocese starting in May and all recruitment is subject to safer recruitment rules and to DBS clearance and to undertaking the necessary safeguarding training.
