O Lord, raise up, we pray, your power and come among us,

and with great might succour us;

that whereas, through our sins and wickedness

we are grievously hindered

in running the race that is set before us,

your bountiful grace and mercy

may speedily help and deliver us;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

to whom with you and the Holy Spirit,

be honour and glory, now and for ever.  Amen

Post Communion

Father in heaven,

who sent your Son to redeem the world

and will send him again to be our judge:

give us grace so to imitate him

in the humility and purity of his first coming

that, when he comes again,

we may be ready to greet him

with joyful love and firm faith;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Thank you for worshipping with us today – we hope to see you again soon.

Please take this pew sheet home with you to remind you of forthcoming events.

Isaiah 40: 1-11; The prophet Isaiah offers God’s comforting words of life and hope to a people steeped in loss, violence and failure, and far away from home.

2 Peter 3: 8-15a; The early Christians expected Jesus to return in their lifetime and to bring the final stages of the kingdom of God with him.  Peter advises them to focus on how they will be when that return happens rather than worry about if it will happen.

Mark 1: 1-8; Mark presents the beginning of the Christian story: a strange man appears in the wilderness and a message of repentance and forgiveness rings out from his lips.  John the Baptist sets the scene for the arrival of Jesus.

2017 Christmas Charity at Blendworth

This year it has been decided to support the ‘Ickle Pickle ‘Charity.

Ickle Pickles are the smallest and sickest babies who need intensive care in Neonatal Units.  Whether born too soon or with an illness the NHS cares for over 20,000 ickle pickles every year.  The Ickle Pickle Partnership turns gifts and donations from generous people into specialised equipment such as incubators and ventilators to help Neonatal units provide incredible levels of care for Ickle Pickles.  The High Dependency Unit at Queen Alexandrea Hospital Cosham cares for many ickle pickles and is always grateful for the support from various fundraising groups .

The above information is from http://www.icklepickles.org/ where you can find out more about Ickle Pickles.
