Almighty God,

 who sent your Holy Spirit

to be the life and light of your Church:

open our hearts to the riches of your grace,

that we may bring forth the fruit of the Spirit

 in love and joy and peace;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,

who is alive and reigns with you,

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.      Amen

Post Communion

Holy Father,

Who gathered us here around the table of your Son

to share this meal with the whole household of God:

in that new world where you reveal the fullness of your peace,

gather people of every race and language

to share in the eternal banquet of Jesus Christ our Lord..      Amen

Readings for Today

Jeremiah 23: 23-29God sees that some of the prophets tell only sweet nothings to the nation, but the God of justice demands to be heard.

Hebrews 11: 29-12: 2 –It is only together that we can receive the gift from God, not individually, no matter how righteous each of us is.

Luke 12: 49-56The reality of our life in God’s kingdom is right now and not in some far distant past, so we need to look at society and see its divisions and know that there is a real contest on.

An Interregnum Prayer

God our Father – You have welcomed each one of us in Christ Jesus and called us to be his body in this place; send us your Holy Spirit, at this time of uncertainty and change, to fill us with vision, energy, and faithfulness in prayer, that we may be true to our calling to bring new life to our community.  Guide those on whom will fall an extra burden of responsibility during this time of vacancy.  And give wisdom to those who are to choose new incumbents for this united benefice, and the adjoining parishes, in the proposed pastoral reorganisation.  That the ones whom we receive may be wise and gentle shepherds of your people: ready to serve us with joy, to build us up in faith, and to lead us by example in loving obedience to your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.    Amen.
