you have created the heavens and the earth
and made us in your own image:
teach us to discern your hand in all your works
and your likeness in all your children;
through Jesus Christ our Son our Lord,
who with you and the Holy Spirit reigns supreme over all things,
now and for ever. Amen
God our creator,
by your gift
the tree of life was set at the heart of the earthly paradise,
and the bread of life at the heart of your Church:
may we who have been nourished at your table on earth
be transformed by the glory of the Saviour’s cross
and enjoy the delights of eternity;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.. Amen
Readings for Today
Genesis 2: 4b-9, 15-end: This passage tells us that God created people, animals and plant life and suggests that humanity has a special responsibility to care for God’s creation
Revelation 4:.An incredible vision of heaven, in which John sees God seated on a throne, surrounded by twenty-four elders worshipping God
Luke 8: 22-25 After travelling around teaching vast crowds of people, Jesus wants to sail across the Sea of Galilee to a quieter area. When a storm breaks out he calms the sea and the disciples are amazed.
An Interregnum Prayer
God our Father – You have welcomed each one of us in Christ Jesus and called us to be his body in this place; send us your Holy Spirit, at this time of uncertainty and change, to fill us with vision, energy, and faithfulness in prayer, that we may be true to our calling to bring new life to our community. Guide those on whom will fall an extra burden of responsibility during this time of vacancy. And give wisdom to those who are to choose new incumbents for this united benefice, and the adjoining parishes, in the proposed pastoral reorganisation. That the ones whom we receive may be wise and gentle shepherds of your people: ready to serve us with joy, to build us up in faith, and to lead us by example in loving obedience to your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Mid week Holy Communion Service
Just for the time being our mid-week services at 11.00am on a Wednesday will be suspended. If there is any change to this arrangement we will publish this on the pew sheet.

Compline by Candlelight at Chalton during Lent 2019
This year those that organise Compline at Chalton are changing the time of the service to an earlier start at 6.00pm. The first service will be on Tuesday 12th March and will be led by John Butt who will run the service on a slightly different basis to past services. The idea stems from the recent experience at Idsworth where there is a very successful quiet contemplative service. Thereafter the services will follow on each Tuesday in Lent at 6.00pm until the last service on Tuesday 16th April. Anyone who would like to come along to this quiet service will be very welcome.
