O Lord Jesus Christ,

who at your first coming sent your messenger

to prepare your way before you:

grant that the ministers and stewards of your mysteries

may likewise so prepare and make ready your way

by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just,

that at your second coming to judge the world

we may be found an acceptable people in your sight;

for you are alive and reign with the Father

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, now and for ever.……Amen

Post Communion

We give you thanks, O Lord, for these heavenly gifts;

kindle in us the fire of your Spirit

that when your Christ comes again

we may shine as lights before his face;

who is alive and reigns now and for ever.……Amen

Readings for Today

Zephaniah 3: 14-end: A powerful and apocalyptic vision of the approaching day of the Lord..

Philippians 4: 4-7: Paul encourages the Philippians to rejoice, not worry and to have faith in the peace of God, which passes all understanding.  Luke 3: 7-18; John the Baptist preaches to the crowds and baptises them with water.  He prophesies that Jesus will baptise them with the Holy Spirit and fire.

An Interregnum Prayer

God our Father – You have welcomed each one of us in Christ Jesus and called us to be his body in this place; send us your Holy Spirit, at this time of uncertainty and change, to fill us with vision, energy, and faithfulness in prayer, that we may be true to our calling to bring new life to our community.  Guide those on whom will fall an extra burden of responsibility during this time of vacancy.  And give wisdom to those who are to choose new incumbents for this united benefice, and the adjoining parishes, in the proposed pastoral reorganisation.  That the ones whom we receive may be wise and gentle shepherds of your people: ready to serve us with joy, to build us up in faith, and to lead us by example in loving obedience to your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.    Amen.

Mid week Holy Communion Service

Just for the time being our mid-week services at 11.00am on a Wednesday will be suspended.  If there is any change to this arrangement we will publish this on the pew sheet.

Attention – Important – Did you know …?

East Hampshire are hoping to sell the car park with the public toilets opposite the doctors’ surgery in Blendworth Lane for housing saying that “ there is sufficient space for drivers to park elsewhere in the village” (statement from EHDC as quoted in the Clanfield Post on Nov 7th 2018).  If you disagree with this please contact Councillor Tickell who says that the car park should be retained ( elaine.tickell@easthants.gov.uk ).  Holy Trinity Blendworth are also producing a petition for you to sign in support of retaining this vital and necessary space for parking in order to maintain pedestrian safety in the village for visitors who visit the various eating places and shops.  Have you signed the petition in support of keeping all available parking in Horndean village?
